Youth Passport Project: For Students


Essay submissions are accepted throughout the year.


Little Black Village would like to publish your essay on your thoughts about international exposure and travel as an African-American, Asian American, Hispanic American or Native American on our Little Black Village website under Passport Project. If you represent one of these groups, please submit your personal essays, and picture of you, covering the questions listed below. The theme of your essay must be related to your thoughts on international exposure as a person of color.

Your essay submissions must have a title and be no longer than 500 words. If you are submitting a picture(s), please make sure you name it and it is in high quality and in the following formats (jpeg, gif, png). All submissions must include your name, telephone number, current address, e-mail address, current school you’ re attending and your birth-date.

The intent is to have interesting material published on the web for the perspective candidate looking for specialized information related to interest in international studies or travel. When writing your personal essay please be sure to answers the following questions, and please keep in mind that you will be sharing information that might encourage others to travel.


  1. Why are you interested in attaining your passport? (Skip this question if you already have a passport.)
  2. Do you believe more minority youth should experience traveling abroad?
  3. Why should more minorities travel aboard and represent the diversity of America?
  4. What kind of community service have you participated in?
  5. Where do you hope to travel to in the near future?

(When answering these questions, please provide in-depth responses, so that perspective reader will gain a personal insight to the your thoughts on international exposure.)

  1. When will the submissions be posted, and the awards be delineated? I know it says last week of February, but if you have not heard back yet, does that mean you didn’t get it or its still being reviewed?
