2012 H.O.P.E. Scholar: Nathaniel Shelton

Our youth can surely use H.O.P.E.!

The H.O.P.E. Scholarship

“It’s not fair for me to receive assistance from this community and not give back,” said Nathaniel Shelton,  a sophomore, theater arts major at Howard University.

A mature sentiment not usually expressed by young people chasing bright lights and big dreams, but Shelton is honest and acknowledges that he will not become a college graduate without the help of scholarships.

For this reason, The H.O.P.E. Scholarship Initiative proudly inducts  Nathaniel Shelton into our HOPE  family as a 2012 H.O.P.E. Scholar and recipient of a $1,000 scholarship.

Howard University is an institution known for its commitment to community service and social activism. Shelton has embraced the university’s spirit of serving by spending his spring break in New Orleans with the University’s “Alternative Spring Break”, volunteering in a local public school. Additionally, Shelton is a member Students Advocating for Youths (S.A.Y.) a community service based organization devoted to the needs of young people…
