Words of the Day: Collective Work and Responsibility
No matter what accomplishment you make, somebody helps you.
~ Althea Gibson
Whatever any of us achieves, we have to credit the many people who helped us in our development: parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, mentors, friends, and coaches. Beyond these, we must give thanks to the courageous African-Americans who lived before us, who put their lives on the line–and yes, lost them, too–so that we could be free today.
Let’s be proud of our accomplishments. We work hard and deserve our recognition. Let us also remember that we might not have been able to effect them had others left the struggle to us.
On this day, I will take five minutes to remember when someone helped me accomplish a task, or when I helped someone else.
