Word of the Day: Responsibility
It is quite easy to shout slogans, to sign manifestos, but it is quite a different matter to build, manage, command, spend days and nights seeking the solution of problems.
~ Patrice Lumumba
It doesn’t take much energy or commitment to wear a button or a T-shirt, to shout a slogan, or even to march for an hour or two. The real work is in the daily “grind” of working toward our personal and political goals, of managing our lives and careers and families, of contributing to our communities. And while our efforts can feel somewhat solitary, it is this daily work that produces the results we are all after.
Let’s learn to appreciate each other for everything we do every day. We have to sustain our joint energy and commitment. A public statement is nothing without the private effort to back it up.
On this day, I will take five minutes and pledge to do everything the best I can.
