Word of the Day: Diplomacy

Word of the Day: Diplomacy

By Syretta Jones

Diplomacy – Art of humble negotiations between nations

Diplomacy is something many of us need to do within our families. It may not be across the nations but it needs to start within the walls of our residence and with our loved ones. If you are walking around your home in silent mode because you are upset with someone, please stop. It is best to talk about things, to come to a mutual understanding and to operate off of the agreement that was discussed. You may even want to see of all parties involved are willing to write down what you are agreeing on to ensure that everyone has an understanding. This way when the situation arrives again you will know how to handle it based on what was agreed upon the last time this particular problem came up. Communication is the key to a great working relationship and yes being silent is a form of communication but sometimes silence isn’t the key to solving a problem. Also, some families use timers while taking turns talking. This may be helpful to avoid interruptions and outburst.
