Word of the Day: Progress
We ask not that others bear our burden, but do not obstruct our pathway, and we will throw off our burdens as we run.
~ Reverdy Ranson
Yet people have stood in our way and, incredulously, bellowed, “Why aren’t you moving? Why aren’t you making progress?”
We need to learn about the progress our people have made so that we do not grow disheartened by constant suggestions that we are inept and unmotivated. Today we still have our burdens–poverty, inferior education, drugs, crime, and bigotry. Some of us feel overwhelmed by our frustrations. These are not hardships we can cast off overnight.
But burdens can be lightened, bit by bit. And our strength can grow, bit by bit. It takes commitment and passion. Energy begets energy. We are not powerless; we have merely to tap into the power within us and learn how to use it efficiently.
On this day, I will take five minutes to tap into my inner power and visualize myself accomplishing one of my goals.

“I am where I am because of the bridges that I crossed. Sojourner Truth was a bridge. Harriet Tubman was a bridge. Ida B. Wells was a bridge. Madame C. J. Walker was a bridge. Fannie Lou Hamer was a bridge.” -Oprah Winfrey
